Do the things that you love... for me, it is creating paper flowers. This is a passion that fills my heart with joy and purpose. When I first discovered the magic of working with crepe paper, I had no idea it would spark such a deep creative journey. The versatility of crepe paper is astounding—it can be shaped in endless ways, offering a perfect canvas for my imagination to run wild.

One of the most soothing aspects of this craft is hand-painting the paper with acrylics before cutting it into the desired shapes. Each stroke of paint adds texture and depth, giving the flowers a lifelike quality. It's a meditative process, one that I find incredibly relaxing and fulfilling. There’s something magical about transforming a simple sheet of paper into a vibrant, blooming work of art.

Another thrilling part of the process is designing templates for the petals and leaves of a new flower. I love experimenting with different shapes and sizes to create a unique design. It’s a true revelation—these are talents I never imagined I possessed, yet they come to life every time I sit down to craft. Creativity, I’ve come to realize, is like a hidden superpower that, once discovered, can transform your life.

What makes this journey even more special is sharing my creations with others. When I see someone smile upon receiving one of my paper flowers, it fills me with happiness. I believe these little flowers do more than add beauty to a space; they carry a bit of nature’s charm and remind us to appreciate the simple wonders of the world. They bring warmth and light to the homes of those who receive them, and in turn, that joy is shared with me.

Ultimately, making paper flowers is about more than just the final product—it’s about the process, the discovery of hidden talents, and the connections forged through creativity. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon spent painting petals or gifting a hand-crafted bloom to someone special, this passion has brought so much happiness into my life, and I can only hope it does the same for others.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to explore your own creative talents, I encourage you to give it a try. You never know where your hidden superpower might take you.

When I started one year ago, I was a complete newbie in the Paper Flowers world. I thought that in order to have pretty flowers I should have had a lot of tools...but that isn't entirely correct.

Of course, all the crafters can lose themselves in craft stores as ... you never have enough tools or supplies.

The truth is that in order to start you don't need a lot of things.

Keep reading and you'll discover what is essential:

A very good pair of scissors (ok, maybe two...). I use steel scissors with a 10 cm blade, ideal for cutting long strips of paper or heavy/doublette crepe paper. The second one is smaller and I use it for details while cutting petals and leaves, or for small fringes, as it has a pointed tip for intricate cutting.

A fine-point hot glue gun. The fine-point is essential as you need to apply a short amount of glue on each petal/leave and a big point just won't do the job. Some paper florists use a cold glue gun; personally, I don't like it, although it is great to avoid burnt fingers. I bought a few of them to find the one I like, but I strongly suggest avoiding cordless glue guns and I would prefer one with a bottom stand.

Long-nose pliers with a comfortable grip. You might have already one in your tools box, but if you don't I strongly suggest buying one as it is very useful to bend florist wire (that can vary in thickness) while making flower stems.

A pair of wire cutters is essential to cut florist wire of different thicknesses. You might have also this in your tools box if not, they are not expensive at all and unbreakable so it is a good investment.

I left it as last but probably should go as first. If you want to save your living room/kitchen table (or your craft table, if you are lucky to have a craft room), you should definitely have a craft-cutting self-healing mat. These may vary in price and are definitely not cheap, but worth it. With all the cutting, gluing, and coloring you will consider it your crafting best friend!
