Frequently Asked Questions About My Paper Flowers

What Type of Paper Do You Use?

I primarily work with crepe paper to craft my paper flowers. I prefer using German double-sided crepe paper for its versatility and texture. Additionally, I often use extra fine and Italian crepe paper in weights of 90 and 180 grams. The choice of paper depends on the specific flower I'm creating and the aesthetic I aim to achieve.

What Equipment Do You Utilize?

For my flower-making process, I rely on a variety of tools and materials, including:

  • Wire cutters

  • Florist wires of different sizes

  • Hot glue or tacky glue

  • Pliers

  • Foam or cotton balls

  • Florist tape in assorted colours

  • Multiple pairs of scissors

  • A ruler

To add colour to the petals, I use pastels, Pan Pastel and acrylic paint, which are high-pigmented pastels in a pot.

What Is Your Process for Creating a Flower?

Whenever possible, I start by observing and dissecting real flowers to capture their intricate details. I also spend time browsing the internet to explore colour variations and gather additional insights.

Do You Work Alone or With a Team?

I work independently and create each piece on my own.

What Is Your Favorite Flower to Create?

I have several: Peonies, Hydrangeas, and Cosmoses. Each of these flowers presents unique challenges and joys in their creation.

How Long Does It Take to Make a Paper Flower?

The time required to create a paper flower varies based on the flower type and the level of realism I aim to achieve. Regardless, it’s not a quick process, as attention to detail is key.
